My Newsboys
Last night Nina, Dave, and I went to the Newsboys/Kutless/Stellar Kart concert in Bethlehem. On the way there we listened to the new Newsboys cd which is really good actually. We stopped at Boston Market on the way for some delicious food including the wonderful sweet potatoes they offer. Mmm! We would have been right on time, however, we weren't sure where the road we needed to turn on was so we ended up turning around when we should have kept going, so we turned around again and then found a sign for the Stabler Arena and got there just in time to see Stellar Kart sing one or two songs. On the way in I saw that the Word FM had a table and Emily saw me and said hi, but I didn't really have time to talk to her then becuase we were running late and wanted to get to our seats. We actually got decent seats, the were up high toward the left of the stage. It just seems to be really cool how my two favorite bands were playing on the same tour so close to my birthday. Kutless did well, they preformed about 8 songs and got everyone pretty excited. After it was over Paul Coleman, the most newest Newsboys, came out while the stage crew broke down from Kutless so they could prepare for the Newsboys. He talked to the audience about signing up to be a part of the war against poverty, by donating $1 a day for a year. He also won our sympathy when he told us the story about how he fell off the stage on tour and had to get 8 stitches over his eyebrow.
We were given a ten minute intermission, so I went downstairs to say hi to Emily and Dave. They both wanted to know if I was going to Brazil, and I told them I would if the mission program I applied to falls though. I would love to be a part of it again, but I'm not sure that is what God has for me. We will see. The cool part was that on my way back I saw tree people from my Kenya team! It was awesome to see them agian. I was happy.
Newsboys began to play shortly there after. Phil's abscence was definatly noticable, but they still put on a good preformance. It's just hard to know that he's not part of them anymore because he played a huge role in the group. He had this vocal range that gave such a distinctive sound to their lyrics. Plus he is an amazing bassist. And the hair...come on...he's like Sampson. If he ever cut it, he'd be ruined. I just miss him so much. But I would miss any member of the Newsboys that left i guess. I am still very glad that I went. It's been a while since I saw them in concert outside of Creation. Sometimes it's nice to just see them for them. They are the most worshipful Christian band that I have ever seen. They really know how to stimulate an undivided audience. They are blessed to bless others. I love their hearts.
One of the quotes that Peter spoke that stuck out was "Don't let anything come between you and your creator except for his son"
I really love my Newsboys.
